Donner Lake
This true “Alpine” lake affords tranquility
at it’s best. Donner Lake measures just shy of 3 miles long, approximately
¾ of a mile wide and 328 Feet in depth at it’s deepest point.
For outdoor recreational enthusiasts, Donner Lake has it all - fishing,
sailing, motor boating, swimming, diving and water skiing.
Donner Lake Property Owner’s Association (established
1957) is a non-profit association of the 600+ property owners within a
specified area in the vicinity of Donner Lake. The association maintains
a private beach on Donner Lake’s West End.

- Boat Use Fees: The fee is $20 per year for each boat whether required
to be registered (any motor vessel and sailboats over 8 feet) or not
required to be registered (paddle boats, canoes, kayaks, windsurfers,
etc.)
- Boat Storage Fees: If you want to store your boat or trailer, you
need to pay a storage fee plus a boat use fee. The fee is $100 per registered
boat or trailer that is left at the beach or in the water (limited to
the area behind the breakwater) overnight. The fee is $50 for unregistered
boats. Note: Prior to receiving a boat and storage sticker, all members
must sign a waiver form, holding the association harmless from any damages
related to the members’ boats and/or trailers.
Donner Lake also marks the site of the historic
Donner Party. Visit nearby Donner Memorial State Park and Museum –
learn the tale of the ill-fated Donner Party, along with the rich history
of The Emigrant Trail and Transcontinental Railroad. The short (25 minutes)
Donner Party documentary slide show at the museum is definitely worth
seeing!
